Once upon a time's how it begins Doesn't matter when, it's all a game where no one wins You set up the pieces and watch them place Settle the score and then walk away But it always seems to work out in the end Cause it's hard to break a thing that doesn't bend You lost all the sadness in your eyes And now that it's gone, you realize... That it's always gonna work out in the end You can try to look ahead, or just pretend We're something than we were then-- But you know that's not the truth It must have been a trick We're victims of our youth But it's always gonna work out in the end And right now I can't believe, or can't defend I'm nothing more than just a friend-- But you know that's not the truth It must have been a trick We're victims of our youth But it's always gonna work out in the end Yes, it's always gonna work out in the end Cause I must believe it works Cause I know it has to work out Please just make it work out in the end...

I've always been here, that's a fact And if you catch me, throw me back Cause I'm not looking anymore... Got my eyes on tomorrow I'm safe in tomorrow Gonna beg steal and borrow So safe in tomorrow Been round this block, I've played this field Seen all the signs, especially Yield I can't just bury and ignore, that's for sure And I'm not a young man anymore Got my eyes on tomorrow I'm safe in tomorrow Gonna beg steal and borrow So safe in tomorrow And now, even when I close my eyes to see Everything that's really going on inside my mind-- It's raw... and so easy to hide behind Your sorrow But you're safe in tomorrow I'm safe in tomorrow You're gonna love your tomorrow And tomorrow...

This is the first time That you and I have been alone And so I testify, admit that I might want you for my own And if you listen for the song that my affection surely brings The beat you can't ignore, the bass is right You're plucking on my strings Zing zing, my eardrums ring I'm in the air right now... And if you take my hand in yours, I'll show you how! And so I vow to keep The promises I'm sure to make And if our love is deep - That's one less vow we have to take By now I'm sure you hear the tune That's long been running through me head It's always ringing, I try to sing it, but a laugh comes out instead Ha, ha it's been so long Since I've been this content... I'd like to take your hand in mine, if you consent! Somehow I've won - The prize is a surprise I came to realize That life is never quite as nice As what's before my eyes tonight I know it's very droll And this is our first stroll... I think that you and I could be a thing If you would let me try to do my thing I think that you and I should be a thing If you would let me try to do my thing And I would let you try to be my Queen Just in time, your hand's in mine That's all I need right now

My Advice 05:14
For once in your life Take care of yourself Don’t let somebody else rule your health. That’s your greatest wealth. And now that you’re grown It’s time that you’ve known All the simple things in life are on loan. I guess you’ll find that out on your own. I know it’s just not the same If you don’t learn from your own mistakes. But sometimes that’s all that it takes. Just don’t make it twice. That’s my advice. Don’t work ‘til exhaust. Don’t wait for the frost. Won’t do much but add to the time that you’ve lost. That’s the gravest cost. I know that it’s hard But learn the guitar. And don’t take advice from a song you hear in a bar Cause it’s bound to leave a scar. I know it’s just not the same If you don’t learn from your own mistakes. But sometimes that’s all that it takes. Just one little vice That’s my advice. Now I’ve said it twice. And that should suffice.

Benjamin Magnuson New York, New York

Benjamin Magnuson is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Inspired by the chamber pop movement; his music is simple, but symphonic. Complex and yet concise. Imperfectly imprecise and always honest. His music churns and flows like a crooked river that eventually leads you safely home... ... more
